We'd love to hear what you have to say about our latest event - what we did wrong, what we did right, and what should be done in the future. Good, bad, or ugly - just visit our website and comment on this post and tell us what you think.

If you'd be so kind as to fill out our survey ( for the LAN, we'd certainly appreciate that too!

BSG MegaLAN XVI Update

Written by tom

Oct. 30, 2013, 10:15 p.m.

Hey Big Shot Gamers!

Just over one week to go before the AWESOME BSG MegaLAN XVI - and we're once again extremely excited to be hosting this event for the Michigan gaming community to enjoy. If you haven't signed up yet, you might want to jump on that. We've got 75 seats remaining, and we need a more accurate count of who's coming and who's not, as the venue's extremely costly and better estimates help to keep our costs down. We know we've been a bit radio-silent over email - much of the information about the upcoming event has been announced on Facebook, but we know not everybody chooses to follow us there. So, with that in mind, a few updates:

1. Interested in helping?
If you're interested in helping out with future Big Shot Gaming events, visit our Volunteer page. ( We likely won't be running another event without more help - so if you're willing to lend a hand for a future event, go sign up there!

2. Sponsorship
We're very pleased to announce that MONSTER ENERGY is this LAN's beverage sponsor - each attendee will get a grab bag upon entry, with some cool Monster swag and two cans of excellent Monster energy drink! We've also got a ton of cans to give away, so you'll have something to drink regardless of whatever else happens.

We've also announced our League of Legends tournament prizes - and here they are:

1st place: 5960 RP, Triumphant Ryze
2nd place: 3780 RP,
3rd place: 1600 RP
4th place: 800 RP

Since League of Legends is our signature tournament this year, we won't be announcing any other tournament prizes until the LAN itself. Speaking of tournaments, we have another announcement to make to that end:

3. Tournament Announcement
We've screwed with our schedule in some significant ways to try and bring you one more tournament (you might want to check the schedule if you're playing in SSBB or Mario Kart for sure), and we're super-pleased to announce a single-elimination StarCraft II tournament! We'll be holding it from 11PM Saturday night to 3AM Sunday morning - it should be an excellent time.

4. Parking for the event
Parking is free on CMU's campus for the whole weekend, but please make sure you park in one of the commuter lots (lots with a 'C' on the lot sign). If you park in a lot that is not a commuter lot, you are likely to get ticketed and/or towed; please check the CMU campus map for more details. ( Suggested parking lots are Lot 18 (directly next to the venue, Finch Fieldhouse), Lot 27, and Lot 28.

If you need an address for Google Maps or the like: E Preston St & Franklin St, Mt Pleasant, MI 48858

5. Check-In
The doors will not be opening until 6 PM on Friday; please leave your computer in your car until you are fully checked-in. Staff will be standing by the large overhead door on the South end of Finch to ensure that only attendees with badges may enter; if you try to enter without a badge, you will be directed to check-in at the Finch main doors first. There will be carts available to assist attendees with loading and unloading, so do not worry about having to carry your computer a million miles. You are, of course, welcome to check-in at any time if you are playing in a tournament that has not yet started - however, we must ask that you check-in an hour before your desired tournament starts. Remember that you 'signed' a waiver before you were able to choose your seat - no physical waivers are required this year.

6. Event Guidelines
Please note that alcohol/drugs are strictly forbidden from the event; if you are caught with either, you will be removed from the event and CMU Police will be contacted for your protection. We also do not permit any form of illegal filesharing at our event; attendees caught torrenting will be removed from the event. All other rules from the waiver apply, and you must follow directions given by the event staff. If you need a link to the waiver to view all the regulations, it's available at

7. Concessions
We will have Bawls, bottled water and possibly other refreshments and snacks for sale. We will also be selling 25 foot Ethernet cables in case you forget yours or you do not have one; they will be $5 each. We accept credit cards, so don't worry about having to carry around a bunch of singles all weekend.

That should cover about everything that you've been wondering about - and if you have more questions, do feel free to visit our Contact page on the website and send us a message. We'll do our best to help you out. The 8th-10th of November will kick ass!

BSG MegaLAN XVI Registration Announcement

Written by tom

Hi Big Shot Gamers!

It's that time of year again - the time where you sign up for our next LAN! We're excited to say that registration is now open and active - and better yet, the seatmap, tournament signups, and schedule are all online as well! This is the earliest we've ever had it *all* ready, and we're excited to sell this LAN out!

You'll note that the upcoming BSG MegaLAN XVI has League of Legends as its showcase tournament. The BSG admins are all very excited to have this game as our main attraction, and we can't wait to see the competition that comes out of the woodwork to crush people. We're also having CS:GO 5v5, Mario Kart FFA, and SSBB 1v1 as official tournaments - as well as a whole host of other freeplay games; the Queen of Blades is sure to make an appearance at this LAN.

This year, we're doing something a bit different: if you register by October 1, you can sign up for our "early-bird" price, which is $20. After October 1, the cost increases to $25, so it's in your best interest to sign up early (and often!). We'll be providing both breakfast and dinner on Saturday as per usual, and with the new changes to the LAN schedule, we hope that you'll be able to get some decent sleep on Sunday morning.

As always, please check out our Facebook page if you have any questions, or feel free to visit our Contact link on the website - we'd love to hear from you!
